We're Certified to Serve
Fortune Magazine reported in its July 20, 1998 issue that one way to choose a recruiter is to ask if they've been certified.
All of the qualified recruiters of the PCG have passed the examinations necessary to afford them the title of Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) or Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist (CTS).
What it means.
Since 1961, the National Association of Personnel Services has been certifying recruiting and staffing professionals nationally. Today, there are more than 10,000 professionals designated as Certified Personnel Consultants (CPC) or Certified Temporary-Staffing Specialists (CTS). Over 300 professionals are dually certified, a trend that continues to grow as the market and demand dictates more blended capabilities.
Why certify?
Certification is viewed by the business community and the industry as a seal of excellence.
NAPS certification was initially established as a self-regulation vehicle for the staffing industry. Today, along with this, it is the opportunity to expand the professional knowledge base in employment law, changing regulations, best business practices and the highest standards of ethics.
Why continuing education?
Laws change. Regulations change. That's why it's imperative once certified to keep your professional knowledgebase current. In 1995, NAPS initiated mandatory Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) for all those candidates successfully achieving CPC or CTS status. You must receive 50 hours or 5.0 units of continuing education credits every three years, starting from your initial certification date. NAPS will provide you additional information on CEU requirements.
Those certified professionals who do not meet the CEU requirements every three years will have their certification rights revoked until the credits are met.
CPC and PRC candidates must have at least two years experience in direct hire placements as of the first day of the testing month. Position experience includes: owner, partner, manager, recruiter and placement consultant within a private firm; or corporate human resources or employee relations professional within a large corporation.
CTS and PRC candidates must have at least two years experience in temporary staffing as of the first day of the testing month. Position experience includes: owner, partner, manager or staffing professional working full time in a temporary service business.
Candidates must currently be employed in the industry.
Candidates must be able to submit written verification of their two years experience upon request.
Candidates must agree to uphold the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) Standards of Ethical Practices and certification program rules.
